The Degree in Materials Science trains professionals (Material Scientists) whose task, from the post-war period onwards and throughout the world, has been and still is to invent, develop, and optimize materials, i.e. the substances with which we build everything. This means, for example, graphene, ceramics, self-healing concrete, low heat conducting glasses, semiconductors, permanent magnets, emulsions, steels for aeronautics, carbon fiber composites for the automotive sector, electrodes for batteries, nanostructured silicon for solar panels...

Skills of this type require an education in science that is perhaps unmatched in extent among all undergraduate programs and which covers a large part of the chemistry, physics, as well as the necessary elements of mathematics, engineering and biology.

An interdisciplinary training of this caliber will be able to provide the student with the best chance of understanding what their passions and talents are in the hard sciences, as well as keeping more job opportunities open.

The Food Systems: Management, Sustainability and Technologies (FOOD Systems) degree course represents an innovative initiative in the Italian university landscape, in which managerial culture is integrated with technological and scientific contributions with the aim of producing qualified managerial figures, able to interpret and manage the problems of the agri-food systems with skill and competence.

The course originates in the heart of the Food Valley and brings together the tradition of scientific research and accreditation of the three Departments involved - Economics and Business Sciences, Chemical, Life and Sustainability Sciences, and Food and Drug Sciences - in the extraordinary context of agricultural enterprises, production, distribution, quality certification bodies, and catering that characterise Italy's agri-food system.

The student will thus be able to rely on an interdisciplinary pathway centred on methodological aspects and basic knowledge that is not subject to rapid obsolescence, on the constant exchange between the context of companies of excellence and that of research and advanced training, as well as on the transversal nature of the skills required for the management of complex and highly-structured processes.

It is divided into two highly specialised curricula. All teaching in the third year is differentiated according to the chosen curriculum.

- The Food Management Curriculum delves into the main topics related to the management of agri-food systems and supply chains, from a value creation perspective for products, with particular reference to cultural and sustainability aspects.

- The Food Science Curriculum develops the knowledge and tools to understand the agri-food product in its organoleptic components and to provide guarantees of health, safety and quality, while respecting environmental, economic and social sustainability.

The degree course in Mathematics is open access. It does not therefore provide for an admission test but, under current legislation, a non-selective test to check entry preparation is compulsory, the outcome of which does not in any way bind the possibility of enrolment.

The Degree Course in Mathematics aims to provide a solid grounding in the mathematical disciplines, enabling the student to become acquainted with the modern formulation and various aspects of the subject, both general and methodological as well as applied. The preparation in mathematical subjects is complemented by a good modelling-application background that emphasises the algorithmic and computational aspects of mathematics. The fundamental tool for the development of the student's knowledge and skills is classroom lectures combined with practice and/or laboratory sessions.

The Course of Study scheme does not provide for differentiated courses (curricula). In the first two years of the degree course, all subjects are included that provide the student with the basics of mathematics, physics and computer science. More advanced courses with a purely mathematical character are included in the third year.

The three-year degree graduate in Mathematics will then be able to continue his or her studies, with a good capacity for autonomy, in a Second-Cycle Degree Course in the Mathematics class, and possibly also in related scientific areas or enter the world of work, in various fields, making the most of his or her mental flexibility acquired during his or her studies.

In accordance with the orientations shared at national and European level by the professional scientific community of psychologists, students of the three-year course in Psychological Sciences and Techniques will acquire a solid basic preparation in the main areas of psychology, in the methodologies and techniques used in psychological research and, partly, in the field of professional psychology. The training pathway will be completed over the three-year period with the acquisition of knowledge and techniques from disciplinary fields related and supplementary to the psychological subjects, with particular reference to the psychobiological and neuroscientific knowledge underlying normal and pathological mental activity during the development stage and adulthood, in both individual and social contexts.
The training course utilises a mixed teaching methodology and is geared towards the acquisition of an adequate mastery of methods and knowledge, which is the prerequisite for the subsequent in-depth studies and professional applications characterising second-cycle degrees in the Psychology field. Speech therapists carry out activities aimed at the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of pathologies and functional alterations that cause voice, speech, oral and written language, calculation, swallowing and communication disabilities in the various age groups (developmental, adult and geriatric). Communication, especially verbal communication, is related to the development of neuropsychological skills, perceptual, cognitive and control systems, which are studied in depth on the degree course, as they are fundamental to the understanding of patients' clinical pictures. The scope of intervention of a speech therapist is very broad and covers pathologies and disorders with different aetiologies (organic, functional and psychological). The tools used range from educational, play and health materials to digital and high-tech tools. It is therefore clear that the rehabilitation techniques that the student will learn over the three years will be wide ranging and specific to each area of intervention.

The University of Parma is among the oldest academic institutions in Europe. After the foundation of the Palatine School by Charlemagne and Alcuin of York in 781 A.D., on March 13th 962 A.D. emperor Otto I conferred to the Bishop of Parma, Uberto, the power to order and elect legal leaders, with an Empire-wide authority. The historian Ernest Dümmler defined Parma a 'celebrated seat of learning' since the 11th century, attracting students from countries beyond the Alps, and its growing popularity was so high that Napoleon maximised its jurisdiction.

The Medical School of the University of Parma has now decided to develop this European and international vocation by opening a novel Medicine & Surgery course, entirely held in English, in the nearby city of Piacenza, which offers a hospital system that is not shared with other medical courses but will be uniquely dedicated to the new medical degree.

Students will develop a comprehensive medical knowledge, from health promotion to emergency medicine, from applied research to the latest medical technologies to health economics and management.
