Learning objectives
The course aims to provide the necessary knowledge and skills to understand the phenomenon under study.
The student demonstrates the ability to identify and interpret such phenomena within texts. He/she also learns to apply the acquired knowledge, to evaluate and make judgments motivated by analysis on specific texts. He/she is able to communicate, present the data collected, compare and suggest suitable translanguaging alternatives using subject-specific terminology.
Course unit content
Lexical-pragmatic aspects of Spanish communication
The aim of the course is to provide the necessary knowledge for the use of language in an oral communicative context. The characteristics of spoken language in comparison to written language will be identified. In this regard, phenomena such as lexical selection in relation to the context of use will be studied. Consequently, phraseology, discursive signals and other forms of expression present in oral communication will be addressed. Examples from film fragments as well as lexicographic works will be presented. The final aim is to be able to express oneself clearly orally by distinguishing language levels and to develop in the student a critical capacity that enables him/her to make conscious choices.

Teaching methods
The course will be conducted through lectures and practical exercises in the classroom. The lecturer will introduce the student to the phenomena under study by means of the reference bibliography of the course as well as additional textual or audiovisual materials made available on the ELLY platform or through the involvement of the student in the search for autonomous solutions and comparisons to the translation problems that will be posed through the University's ELLY platform. These activities are aimed at verifying the theoretical aspects studied in practice.
Assessment methods and criteria
Modalità di verifica dell’apprendimento
The test involves an assessment with final exams written and oral language.
Final tests are divided into:
Written examination
Grammar test, assessment of different skills (written expression, dictation, knowledge of grammatical aspects by translating sentences). Is allowed the use of a monolingual dictionary. This test is a prerequisite to the oral exam.
Oral examination
The student must be able to understand the texts, authors and formal issues related to linguistic phenomenon. The questions have as objective verify knowledge of the topics covered as well as the ability to apply it through the analysis of the text. The examination takes place in Spanish in order to verify oral competence corresponding to a higher level than B2. For the oral, the failure threshold is determined by lack of knowledge of the contents, a result of incorrect use of specific language from a logical rigour and free and inability to speak in a Spanish above level B2. The threshold sufficient (18-23/30) is determined by a partial knowledge of the contents and a minimum capacity of application and/or reprocessing of the waste and the demonstration of owning a linguistic level with characteristic features of B2. An evaluation between 24-27/30 and 26-27/30 can be reached thanks to a decent/good knowledge of content, demonstrating enforcement capacity, position articulated and appropriate use of language. The higher threshold (from 28/30 to 30/30 e lode) is obtained when proves to possess a good knowledge of content, autonomous application, original and creative.

Language exercise will be held during both semesters.
