Integrated course unit module: Medical Pathology - Medical Semeiology

Learning objectives

Obtain an accurate and relevant history of the individual animal or animal group, and its/their environment. Recognising physiological and pathological clinical findings during physical examination. Collect, preserve and transport samples, select appropriate diagnostic tests, interpret and understand the limitations of the test results.
Communicate effectively with clients, the public, professional colleagues and responsible authorities, using language appropriate to the audience concerned

Prerequisites

Knowledge on how to handle and restrain animal patients safely and with respect of the animal. Knowledge of normal Anatomy and Physiology

Course unit content

Students are provided with theoretical and practical instruction in the performance of anamnestic collection and physical examination in different species of veterinary interest. How to set up the clinical decision-making process is illustrated.
Theoretical and practical knowledge is provided regarding the collection of samples to be sent to the laboratory, the choice of the most appropriate tests and the interpretation of results.
