Learning objectives
Provide the information necessary for the proper clinical approach at patient with suspected neoplastic and indicate, once the diagnostic process, the possible therapeutic approach
To give to the student the basic knowledges in cytologic diagnosis of the neoplastic diseases of the cat and the dog. Oncological smears interpretation.
Diagnostic imaging: the aim of the course is to give to the student the basic knowledge of diagnostic imaging in medical oncology of the dog and the cat.
The student should be able to:
1) Know the correct clinical path summarized by diagnostic imaging, and the consecutive basic knowledge of oncological cytology and the ability to interpret the cytological preparations of the most common neoplasms of domestic carnivores, monitoring as well as the methods of administration of antiblastic drugs. Be able to understand and use the scientific terminology of the disciplines (knowledge and understanding).
2) Being able to use the knowledge acquired in situations characterized by the involvement of several organs, acute and chronic, in subjects of different age groups, demonstrating the ability to adequately interpret a therapeutic approach appropriate to the drama of the clinical situation (applying knowledge and understanding).
3) At the end of the lessons, the student must demonstrate that he is able to perform a correct approach to the cancer patient. Not only that, to have understood the knowledge related to the various topics covered during the theoretical-practical lessons, and to know how to correlate them at the various organizational levels (making judgments).
4) The student must demonstrate that he can clearly communicate the knowledge learned using a language that is always appropriate to the interlocutors (communication skills).
5) The student, in addition to demonstrating that he is able to correlate, integrate and manage the knowledge imparted in interdisciplinary areas, must demonstrate that he has developed skills that make him largely autonomous in the self-management of knowledge (learning skills).
