Learning objectives

The course is aimed to provide the student the basics elements and interpretation of the diagnostic methods in the fields of clinical and infectious diseases, in companion and large animals.Student will acquire the skills to approach the clinical cases with the most suitable metodologies.

Course unit content

Basics of bacteriological, mycological and virological diagnosis of the most important animal infectious diseases;
set up, interpretation and validation (sensitivity, specificity) of serological test used to support population screening; methodology for assessing the immune response in the course of infectious diseases and vaccination protocols.
Disucssion of clinical cases hospitalized at OVUD. Decision path from history to diagnosis through interpretation of hematological, biochemical, endocrinological and microbioogical tests in companion animals.
