Learning objectives

D1 - KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
At the end of the training activity the student will be able to:
1. Know and understand the methods of clinical and instrumental diagnosis of the main internistic medical problems of small and large animals, exotic pets and wild animals.
D2 - CAPACITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
At the end of the training activity the student will be able to:
1. Perform a clinical examination and complete a clinical record
2. Perform and interpret an electrocardiographic examination
3. Perform a cardiological, neurological, dermatological examination
4. To manage, in collaboration with other professionals, a case of internal medicine
D3 - MAKING JUDGEMENTS
At the end of the training activity the student will be able to:
1. Evaluate and critically choose the most appropriate instrumental and laboratory diagnostic tool to formulate diagnosis and prognosis
D4 - COMMUNICATION SKILLS
At the end of the training activity the student will be able to:
1. Communicate clearly and with appropriate terms a clinical case
2. Relate correctly to the patient, the animal owner, and the work colleagues

3. Have a mastery of clinical disciplines that will stimulate continuing education

Clinical Management of internal medicine cases at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital

Physical examination of dogs, cats, horses and cattles
Cardiovascular examination
Instrumental Diagnosis of Cardiovascular Diseases (Electrocardiography, Echocardiography, Non-invasive Systemic Blood Pressure Measurement)
Neurological examination
Instrumental Diagnosis of Neuromuscular Diseases and Deafness (EMG, BAEP)
Dermatological examination
Behavioural examination
Clinical approach to exotic pets
Clinical approach to wild animals

The didactic activities consist of practical training with small groups of students.

Assessment methods and criteria

The topics covered in practical tutorials are an integral part of the contents of the course of Medical Pathology - Medical Semeiology and as such are subject to verification during the oral examination described in the relevant sections of the course of Medical Pathology and Medica Semeiology
