Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with the information to know and understand the physiological mechanisms responsible for the regulation of the kidney, endocrine system and reproductive physiology, with particular emphasis on the aspects of homeostasis. Examples of integration of regulatory processes will be proposed in order to allow the student to use the knowledge and understanding gained in the course.

Course unit content
The kidney function will be described in the first part of the course, with reference to the role played by these organs in the regulation of fluid and electrolyte homeostasis and in the regulation of acid-base balance.
The next part of the course will focus on hormones and endocrine glands, starting from general to come to describe specific features. Regulation of homeostasis of calcium and phosphate metabolism and the endocrine regulation of metabolism will also be proposed.
The third part of the course will deal with the physiology of the male and female genital tracts and the endocrine regulation of reproductive events. In the final part of the course the physiology of the mammary gland and the endocrine regulation of lactation will be addressed.
