Internships

The University of Parma promotes curricular internships in order to facilitate professional choices through direct knowledge of the world of work and the realisation of moments of alternation between study and work.
The curricular internship integrates and completes the student's training pathway through the performance of practical activities which, on the basis of the provisions of the Degree Course Regulations, may be carried out in structures within the University or externally at qualified public and private bodies with which the University has entered into appropriate agreements.
The internship involves three parties: the student, the promoter (the University of Parma) and the host (company or organisation) where the activity is carried out under the guidance of a student tutor, a university tutor and a company supervisor.
Curricular internships are not a prerequisite for an employment relationship between the intern and the host structure, nor can they be a substitute for company labour or professional services.

Activation and conduct of the internship

Online management of internships has been active since 2015. The procedure envisages that each individual interlocutor (COMPANY, STUDENT, UNIVERSITY) manages exclusively online the part for which it is responsible, which consists of the signing of training projects and the recognition of internship periods carried out by the student.
Below is a link to the page explaining the procedures in charge of each interlocutor involved in the process of activation and completion of the curricular internship:  https://www.unipr.it/en/curricular-internships-online
To access the procedure, the user must enter his/her page by following the link https://unipr.esse3.cineca.it/Home.do At the end of the job placement activity, in order to complete the procedure for the recognition of job placement credits, it is essential to complete the evaluation questionnaire
The evaluation questionnaires, drawn up by the University Quality Assurance Committee and identical for all study courses can be used by the course of study to verify the effectiveness of the training course.
the completion of the questionnaires by the student and the host organisation is enabled from the day after the end of the job placement and is a prerequisite for the successful completion of the job placement to be recorded in the student's career.
Completion is compulsory for external internship. In the case of in-house placements, completion of the questionnaire by the host structure is optional.

Procedure for the activation of international mobility internships

An agreement with the host institution (single agreement) must be activated before the start of the internship. Students are required to check with the Internship division whether an agreement is already in place. The students must then complete, in agreement with the host institution and the university tutor, the training project (Internship programme). Internship Programme and Single Convention (if required) must be completed and signed in duplicate and sent, also in PDF format, to the Internships division at least 15 days before the start of the activity, for approval.
The 'Single Convention' and 'Internship programme' documents must be requested from the Internships division.

Training activities equivalent to internship activity

The following clarifications are provided in addition to those already indicated in the RULES FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF INTERNSHIP AND EQUIVALENT TRAINING ACTIVITIES AND THE FINAL EXAMINATION, for students who intend to carry out, as equivalent training activities, free-choice courses that can be identified among those provided by the Department of Food and Drug (Food area), other than those free-choice courses envisaged in the programme of study: when compiling or modifying the programme of study, the student must indicate the activity "cod. 1006253 - Internship and equivalent training activities" the subjects chosen as "equivalent training activities" must NOT be indicated in the syllabus but ONLY in Appendix 1 of the Regulations; since the subjects are NOT indicated in the syllabus, registration for the exam cannot be carried out using the ESSE3 system, but must be agreed with the Professor/Instructor; following successful completion of the exam, the student will receive a non-numerical suitability assessment from the Professor/Instructor; this assessment does not contribute to the average profit, but certifies that the student has acquired the skills envisaged by the training objectives of the course; the Professor/Instructor issues the certificate of aptitude to the student and communicates the outcome of the examination to the Professor/Instructor responsible for equivalent training activities; in order to record and register the ECTS credits obtained, once the examination has been taken the student must enrol in one of the examination sessions published on ESSE 3 with "cod. 1006253 - Internship and equivalent training activities"; the sessions are uploaded by the reference Professor/Instructor for equivalent training activities on dates very close to the closing date of the electronic booklet; before the close of the session, the student must send by e-mail to the reference Professor/Instructor the certificates of suitability for the free-choice courses issued by the reference
