Learning objectives
During the course the student will acquire specific knowledge about the topics covered during the lessons, in particular he will acquire knowledge that will allow to understand the diagnostic classification phase of the main cardiovascular diseases. These objectives will allow the student to understand and then apply in practice, with discrete judgment autonomy, the following skills: cardiovascular risk assessment, clinical management of the patient with heart disease and prescription of physical exercise in cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation.
The student will also acquire, with regard to the topics covered, communication and learning skills that will be assessed during the course with oral questions and subsequently during the oral exam.
Prerequisites
To know the anatomy and the physiology of the heart and the circulation.
Course unit content
The course will address in the initial lessons the general aspects of the anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system. in the following lessons three of the major thematic areas of arrhythmic, ischemic and valvular heart disease will be addressed. in addition, the methods of characterization of cardiac anatomy will be addressed by means of echocardiography, myocardial scintigraphy, myocardial PET scan, cardiac MRI, heart CT and coronary angiography.
The topic of the prescription of physical exercise, the cardioprotective effects of exercise and the indications of physical activity in heart patients will also be addressed.

Teaching methods

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination.
