Course unit content

The course will attempt to cover the main relevant mental disorders, from the management of established diagnoses in the context of the perinatal period (e.g. depression and anxiety disorders) to disorders and symptoms specific to the perinatal period (e.g. intrusive thoughts of harm relating to the child, sleep disorders).
An important contribution will also be made to perinatal affective disorders in fathers, which emphasises the importance of male mental health in the perinatal period.
After discussing clinical disorders, we move into the sphere of prevention, screening and public health in general.
