Learning objectives
At the end of the pediatric neurology course, it is expected for the student to be able to recognise the signs and significative symptoms of neurological disease in the developmental age; more specifically the student is requested to improve the study of what follows:
knowledge of the fundamental stages of psychomotor development, in order to be able to catch potential distortions of it; this learning process is also based on the knowledge of the necessary instruments (instrumental research and psychomotor development tests/ cognitive tests) in order to recognise the steps of typical and atypical development.
knowledge of clinical pictures linked to prematurity and/or perinatal damage of their neurological series (cerebral paralysis, neurodevelopmental disorder, epilepsy).
general framework of neurodevelopmental disorders, of the diagnostics of it and the rehabilitation treatments.
recognition of floppy infant and muscle weakness clinical framework, indicating neuromuscular pathologies and knowledge of the differential diagnostic process to be implemented in each case. Moreover, knowledge of eventual therapies of the principal neuromuscular pathologies.
