Learning objectives
The course aims to acquire a specific awareness of the scientific instruments and methods of historical research, as well as of the development of world politics from an international system centred on the Old Continent, that reached its acme in the XIX century, to a polarised world during the Cold War, whose ending produced the current world community.

Course unit content
The course provides an introductory overview about the origin, the research method, the sources and the definitions of the discipline. It will analyse the development of international relations from the Vienna System (1815) to the period after the Second World War and the decolonisation process.

Taught classes in remote mode. Analysis of treaties with the support of historical maps and seminars with experts and scholars.
