THE STUDENT MUST KNOW

-HOW TO ASSESS A PATIENT WITH CARDIAC OR RESPIRATORY
PROBLEMS IN ACUTE, CHRONICAL OR ACUTE ON CHRONICAL SITUATION.
THE STUDENT ALSO NEEDS TO FIND THE RIGHT KIND OF TREATMENT FOR
THAT PATIENT
-THE AIRWAY CLEARANCE TECHNIQUES
- HOW TO SET UP AN ENDURANCE AND STRENGHT TRAINING IN THE
RESPIRATORY PATIENT
-THE IMPORTANCE OF EARLY MOBILIZATION IN ICU
-THE PATIENTS AFFECTED BY CYSTIC FIBROSIS AND BRONCHIECTASIS

ATTENDANCE TO THE LESSONS ABOUT PULMONOLOGY

Course unit content

Pulmonary rehabilitation: italian recommendations and features
The respiratory system: anatomy and kinesiology
Secretions in the upper and lower airways: the mucociliary clearance
mechanism
How to misure blood pressare, peripheral oxygen saturation, respiratory
and hear rate
Nasal washings
Airway clearance techniques:
positive expiratory pressure (pursed lips technique, pep mask, pep
valve);
Airway clearance techniques with the expiratory flow: ELTGOL, autogenic
trainate, FET
Cystic fibrosis and non cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis
Field tests: 6 minute walking test, shuttle test, step test, sit to stand chair
test, sppb). Ers/ats guidelines
Exercise training in respiratory patients
The icu patient: Early mobilization in intensive care unit; critical illness
(the patient with covid-19, interstitial lung disease, rheumatological disease and neuromuscular disease)
