knowledge of classical literatures and advanced methodological skills in philological and linguistic studies and in the analysis and critical understanding of literary texts in Latin and Greek, also in a didactic perspective. Acquisition of specialized skills for the application of modern information technology to the ancient world.
Prerequisites
- Have earned at least 10 credits in the scientific-disciplinary area of Latin (Latin language and literature, L-FIL-LET/04).
- Students must pass a preliminary written entry exam, if they have already gained 18 credits in the same SDA (Latin language and literature, L-FIL-LET/04).

Prerequisites are competence in classical languages (Greek and Latin), and in a historical or cultural area such as Greek and Latin Literature, Greek History, Roman History.
Course unit content
Course title: Classical texts and informatics: stylistic and intertextual analysis of poems. The study of classical texts must be aided by text and bibliographical databases. Students must be able to use these research tools, with a full awareness of the potential of such tools as well as of the risks deriving from their exclusive and uncritical use.
Study and discussion of assigned individual research topics.

Teaching methods
The course consists of classroom lectures and exercises, followed by a weekly tutorial. Any support material will be distributed in class and stored on the elly platform
Assessment methods and criteria
Students will be assessed by an oral examination based on the readings and other material used in the course.
The vote is expressed in thirtieths and the student who does not demonstrate an adequate understanding of the essential points of the method (e.g. distinction between error and varia lectio, between significant and non-significant error) or who will not be able to place the discussed texts will be considered insufficient in the historical-literary context of reference. On the other hand, the student will be able to handle the concepts and terms of the discipline, discrete-good (22-26), who will show a greater capacity for critical, very good-excellent (27-30 and 30 cum laude) who will have deepened the subject in an autonomous and meaningful manner (e.g. consulting critical editions or making comparisons on single editions of texts or different edition criteria).
