Course unit structured in the following modules:

Learning objectives

Understanding of theoretical foundations and methods of investigation of human geography.
Critical analysis of cartography.
Acquisition of the main tools for the interpretation of Italian landscapes, their conservation and management.

Prerequisites

Students must have achieved a sufficient historical and geographical training in the previous curriculum.

Course unit content

This course, divided into module A (Lettere) and B (Lettere and Conservazione dei Beni Culturali) aims to provide students with the fundamental knowledge of Human Geography: nodal concepts, sources and methods of investigation. The second part of the course will be dedicated to the critical analysis of cartography and to the use of iconographic sources (cartography and historical photography) for the study of landscape, with particular attention to the relationship between agriculture, local production and environment.

Teaching methods

Lectures. The lessons will be integrated by Laboratorio di lettura e analisi storico-geografica del paesaggio. Rules of conduct will be discussed during the first part of the course.

Current Academic Year provide a teaching methodology both in presence and remotely (e-learning "blended").

Assessment methods and criteria

Written examination.

Students will benefit of supplementary teaching activities whose unwinding mode will be discussed during the course.
