Internships

The University of Parma promotes curricular internships with the aim of facilitating professional choices through direct knowledge of work opportunities and contexts and the performance of work periods linked to the curriculum.

The curricular internship thus integrates and completes the training pathway through the performance of practical activities which, in accordance with the Course Regulations, may be carried out either in facilities within the University or externally at qualified public and private organizations with which the University has entered into appropriate agreements.
The internship involves three parties: the student on the course; the promoting party (the University of Parma); the host party (company or organization) where the activity is carried out under the guidance of university tutors, professors and company tutors.

A curricular internship is not a prerequisite for an employment relationship with the host structure, nor can it be a substitute for company labour or professional services.

Traineeships or internships?

Strictly speaking, the term 'Traineeship' would indicate a period of voluntary training carried out in a working environment outside the university, while 'Internship' would mean a training opportunity provided for as compulsory by the programme of study of the individual three-year or master's degree course. In fact, the legislation governing the entire matter uses the term 'training and guidance internship' alone to refer to both hypotheses (see Ministerial Decree No 142 of 25.03.1998).
Students should first contact their departmental contact persons.

Contact person

For the Humanities course, the contact person is Prof. Giulia Raboni, who can guide students in setting up individual courses and in identifying host organizations and companies; she can also provide information on how the internship can be carried out.
We would like to point out that traineeships are also available within the same departmental structures.
Further information can be found on the University's website pages dedicated to (curricular) Apprenticeships and Placement.
For internships abroad, please consult the page Opportunities for Italian Students.
