Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with the notions and the basic concepts of sociology.
Specifically the course aims to show the student how the formulation of models for the analysis of social relations give rise to the construction of various sociological approaches to the social reality.
This will be achieved in particular with the reading of short essays in sociology. Students will thus apply their knowledge and develop personal interpretations.

Title: On Social Action
Course Topics
The course is divided into two parts.
The first part is institutional and wants to rebuild the rise and spread of sociology as a science reflective of the modern age. The direction and orientation of this new discipline that will give a twist to the human sciences are given by classical authors. In particular, the course will address some of issues related to the subject and methodology in sociology.
The second part aims to reconstruct the lines of interpretation and frameworks theoretical
that guide - as low as M. Weber - the different conceptions of the social action - for example in T. Parsons, J. Habermas and R. Boudon - highlighting the different theoretical proposals on the relation between social structure and relationship.

Teaching methods
Lectures.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral test. The oral test will focus in particular to verify the mastery of the discipline through the discussion of a classic text in sociology chosen by the student from those proposed.
Written examination. The written test will consist of a set of questions designed to grasp the mastery of concepts and skills of synthesis and analysis of the students.
