Course unit partition: REHABILITATION IN GYNAECOLOGY

Learning objectives

The student must learn the fundamentals of physiotherapy evaluation of the female pelvic floor and, in case of malfunctions related to it such as uterine prolapse, urinary incontinence, chronic pelvic pain, be able to set up a targeted rehabilitative treatmen

Prerequisites

Anatomy of the pelvic floor, the principles of urological and gynecological pathology, modification of the perineum during childbirth and the puerperium

Course unit content

Evaluation techniques and functional rehabilitation of the pelvis and pelvic floor muscles in women, in presence of uro-gynecological disorders

Full programme

The genito-urinary tract and the female pelvis: static and dynamic evaluation. Neurophysiology of urination;the main neurophysiological investigations for the study of the functional capabilities of the pelvic floor; assessment and rehabitation treatment of uterine prolapse; assessment and rehabilitation treatment stress incontinence; evaluation and treatment of urge incontinence; assessment and treatment of chronic pelvic pain. Discussion of clinical cases and compiling a uro-gynecological rehabilitation folder
