Learning objectives

On one hand the course describes the historical context of the
debate on properties, while on the other hand it presents the respective texts, and
encourages students to develop a critical interpretation according to which they can
form their own personal viewpoint.

Title: Properties: a historical perspective

We will
follow the development of the issue of properties from Aristotle to Leibniz. The idea is to underline, in the history of the topic as from Aristotle's Categories, how the debate takes place on the border between logical grammar, ontology and metaphysics
