Studying abroad

The Second-cycle degree course in International Business and Development offers all its students various opportunities for international study: from exchanges in Europe through the Erasmus Plus Programme to extra-European mobility with the Overworld Programme and numerous pathways for the acquisition of a double degree.

International agreements

IBD students are encouraged to gain experience abroad during the two academic years and can take advantage of a large number of opportunities.
As well as the Erasmus programme which includes all countries of the European Union, there is the chance every year to compete for places at overseas universities which have cooperation agreements with the Department of Economics and Management. These currently include universities in Brazil (Sao Paulo), Argentina (Buenos Ayres), Japan (Kobe), Vietnam (Hanoi), Thailand (Bangkok), United Kingdom (Dundee), Russia (Moscow) and the United States (Boston). Every academic year, there are opportunities to study at these institutions, publicised on Parma University and department websites.
IBD students also have the option of obtaining a double degree with one of four different partner institutions: the University of Vilnius (Lithuania), the Grenoble Ecole de Management (France), the Hochschule Bochum (Germany) or the FECAP - Fundação Escola De Comércio Álvares Penteado (Brazil).
Like students on other second cycle degree courses, IBD students can also gain credits by way of work experience carried out at Italian or overseas firms.
The participation to these exchanges is subject to competitive selection procedures. For these activities, specific meetings on international exchanges are organised during the year.
For the Overworld Program, students apply directly to the University of Parma and select one of the universities available. Applications are usually in January-February, for exchanges in the next academic year (from September), but always check on the website!

Language requirements for international exchanges

Every call for international exchanges (Overworld, Erasmus+, etc.) explains how to meet its specific language requirements.
The language requirements for international exchanges can be met through the LPT (Language Placement Test). The LPT is an internal test, compulsory to apply for most international exchanges. It is usually held in January-February.
Calls for exchanges and deadlines for the LPT must be checked very carefully.
