The Course of Study in Brief
Today, more than ever before, consumers are aware of, attentive to and demanding foodstuffs with specific quality characteristics, deciding more carefully to which products they place their trust.
The choice of use, as well as the evaluation of the quality characteristics of the raw material, are therefore complex but extremely important actions for its sustainable use.
In fact, the evaluation of the quality of raw materials for food use is increasingly the focus of attention of food companies that invest enormous resources in innovation and in specialised figures that combine technical-scientific knowledge with professional skills.
However, this important role of assessing the raw material is currently performed by personnel with not always specific training, with the risk of compromising the product's production processes.
The new vocationally-oriented QuAM degree course at the University of Parma was created precisely to train, in close collaboration with companies, highly specialised professional figures capable of correctly assessing raw materials.
QuAM, in fact, envisages a third of the course in the classroom (to provide the theoretical and scientific foundations), a third in the laboratory (to apply the skills acquired) and a third in companies for an internship useful for entry into the world of work.
The professionally oriented QuAM degree (Class L-P02) will not only guarantee the free exercise of the profession of Graduate Agricultural Technician enrolled in the College, but will also offer an immediate entry into the world of work, thus bringing enormous advantages also to companies that will be able to improve the production processes of raw materials with a view to satisfying consumer needs. The professionalisation activities provided will allow for employment in public and private companies, in the service sector and in the liberal professions. On the other hand, it will not be immediate to transfer to a different First-cycle degree and continuation in a Second-cycle degree will not be allowed, in accordance with current legislation.
