Integrated course unit module: HISTORY OF PUBLISHING AND DOCUMENT SYSTEMS

Learning objectives

The class intents to built the basic knowledge to approach the archive
science.
Knowledge and understanding: students will be able to recognise and
describe archivistic material, thanks to the use of different sources
Applying knowledge and understanding: the class intents to give basic
instruments for archival discipline; students will use descriptive
instruments like lists, guides and inventories.
Making judgements: students will be able to move in the complex world
of archives, both ancient and contemporary: they will approach the
digital-borne archives and problems related to their programmation to
their conservation.
Communication skills: students will be
able to decrcirbe archival material; that means tey
will be able to recognise and use the communication ways on archival
sources.
Learning skills: students will be oriented to work opportunities in archives
management and will be able to deal with systematic research applied to
others branch of knowledge.

Course unit content

Introduction and archival science approach, international
standards of archival description, italian archival administration and
organisation, archives in the digital era

Full programme

The coursework will be presented at the first lesson.
The module will be in the second part of the II semester.

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons - guided visit to institution with archival holdings

Assessment methods and criteria

Oral exam.
The exam will judge the level of understanding and the study of the bibliography, as
well as the exercise records (if done).
These exercise records must be agreed with the teacher and they must
be sent to the e.mail address donatella.corchia@unipr.it at least a week
before the exam.
Not attending students have to study on a
different program that includes selected bibliography (usually available
on Elly's pages).
The exam interview will judge the program knowledge, but also the
exposure ability and the ability to manage connections.
