HEPATITIS VIRUSES (HBV, HCV, HEV), HIV, HERPES SYMPLEX VIRUS 1 AND 2 (HSV 1, 2) CITOMEGALOVIRUS (CMV) AND SYPHILIS: SEXUAL TRANSMISSION RISK AND EFFECTS ON PREGNANCY

Full programme

Infection by hepatitis viruses (HBV, HCV, HEV), infection by cytomegalovirus (CMV): elements of virology and main related pathologies, risk of fetal transmission, pharmacological prophylaxis for maternal-fetal transmission of HBV.
HIV: virology, natural history, diagnosis, main therapeutic strategies, conception in serodiscordant couples, guidelines for screening in pregnancy. Risk of maternal-fetal and neonatal transmission, prophylaxis.
Syphilis: natural history, diagnosis, therapy, risk of maternal-fetal transmission, consequences of maternal-fetal and neonatal transmission.
HSV 1, 2: natural history, diagnosis, risk of maternal-fetal transmission, prevention, consequences of maternal-fetal and neonatal transmission.

The assessment of the achievement of learning objectives includes evaluation through either an oral interview or a written exam, based on the covered content. This is done through questions on topics related to the course content. The written exam includes both multiple-choice questions and open-ended questions.
