Learning objectives
At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to know and understand the main aspects of the epidemiology and prevention strategies available for some infectious diseases transmissible during pregnancy. The course is aimed at increasing the student's ability to critically analyze the knowledge acquired for the identification of correct lifestyles and vaccination plans, necessary for the acquisition of specific care skills of the professional practice of the midwife for the accompaniment of women in the physiological development of their reproductive potential and for the correct management and surveillance of physiological pregnancy.

The course presents the main infections that a pregnant woman may encounter and for each one the risk factors, prevention strategies and consequences on the fetus and unborn child are indicated.

Teaching methods
The course will be conducted through frontal lectures, with interactive teaching. Visual aids will support lessons, and these materials will be available to students on the Elly platform.
Assessment methods and criteria
For the assessment of the achievement of the objectives the student must take an oral exam to evaluate the acquired knowledge of the course.
