Learning objectives
To develop or consolidate students' French skills related to grammar, vocabulary, language functions, reading and listening comprehension corresponding to the B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
According to the CEFR, at level B1 the user can understand the main points of clear standard written and spoken input in the foreign language on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc., and can deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling in an area where the language is spoken.
Prerequisites
Preparation for the B1 level assumes that an elementary knowledge of French has already been acquired (at least at the A2 level).
Course unit content
This course develops general French skills to the B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Teaching methods
Every semester, the University Language Centre organizes courses in preparation for French exams, held by native language teachers in person and/or through distance learning.
In addition, the online self-study course “PREPARAZIONE IDONEITÀ FRANCESE B1” is always available on the University Language Centre Elly portal and contains practice exercises on exam topics with automatic correction, including exam mock tests.

Assessment methods and criteria
The exam is a computer-based multiple-choice test of grammar, vocabulary and receptive skills (reading and listening) at the B1 level. To pass the test, at least 60% of the questions must be answered correctly; the final score is obtained by adding up the correct answers.

It is possible to be exempted from the exam by presenting previously acquired external language certificates.
