Transfers and course transitions

A student enrolled at another university who wishes to come to study at our university, or who is enrolled at this university and wishes to study elsewhere, may apply for a transfer.
If the student is enrolled at this university, but wishes to change degree course, he/she may apply for a change of course The student enrolled in a given academic year may apply, by the deadline of the second instalment of fees and without charge, for another degree course. After that date, the application is no longer permitted and it is necessary to apply for a change of course.

Transfers and ECTS credit recognition

Incoming students coming from other degree courses or from other universities, or in possession of a degree, even if obtained abroad and recognised as suitable pursuant to the the legislation in force, may request a shortening of their career by validating examinations already taken. The Course Council determines for each individual case which of the examinations or other educational activities may be recognised and validated, and the number of ECTS credits that are thus acquired, indicating, on the basis of these, the year to which they are admitted and any progression of studies. Validation of course units for at least 42 ECTS credits allows enrolment in the second year; validation of course units for at least 84 ECTS credits allows enrolment in the third year.

In the event of a student's transfer from other universities, the Course Council, in all cases where doubts exist as to the recognition of ECTS credits linked to previous training activities, may order an assessment to determine the ECTS credits to be recognised to the student.

The Course Council may determine the duration of the value of ECTS credits corresponding to certain training activities in order to avoid their obsolescence. This is without prejudice to the provisions of Article 32(6) of the University Teaching Regulations concerning the suspension of studies by a student who has not sat any examinations for a number of consecutive academic years equal to twice the duration of the course.

The Course Council, giving adequate reasons, may recognise as ECTS credits, within the limits established by law, sporting practice, professional knowledge and skills, as well as IT, linguistic, cultural and artistic knowledge and skills certified in accordance with the relevant legislation in force, and other knowledge and skills acquired in post-secondary training activities in the design and implementation of which the University has contributed
