Learning objectives

The student have to know the fundamental mechanisms that activate and regulate the immune response in order to understand what are the qualitative and quantitative parameters to be assessed through appropriate techniques able to to assess whether the immune response is taking place in an efficient and controlled way.

Course unit content

General concepts on the immune response, its mechanisms and its regulation. Assessment of the efficiency of the immune response based on knowledge of suitable parameters and their measurement techniques

Full programme

Innate and acquired immunity: mechanisms of activation of the immune response and their regulation. Mucosal immunity.
Immunity, systemic effects e neuroendocrine response.
The evaluation parameters of the immune system and the specific tecniques (Cytofluorimetry and ELIspst tecniques)

Teaching methods

The course will be held through lectures to Students in the classroom (“in presenza”). Lectures will be supported by slide presentations, which will be available to students on the Elly platform (https://elly.medicina.unipr.it).

Assessment methods and criteria

Written examination, multiple choice test.

The teacher is at students disposal for further explanations on the contents, during the course and for exam's preparation, and tutorial assistance. For this purpose, the reception is possible for students from Monday to Friday prior agreements via-email.
