Learning objectives

The course aims to promote:
- knowledge of the methodological prerequisites of an observation conducted in naturalistic context, and some knowledge of coding schemes applicable in educative and therapeutic childhood community
- independence of judgment and autonomy with respect to the issues addressed in the preparation and employ of a observational methodology both in projects of intervention and research projects in the field of childhood community.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of methodology of psychological research.

Course unit content

The laboratory aims to deepen the fundamental aspects of the observational method in research and intervention in the field of developmental psychology and education. In the course will be presented the different types of observation and some observational tools.

Bibliography

The deepening of the topics addressed in the laboratory will be through the analysis of some observational protocols conducted in different contexts and other material shared during the lesson.

Teaching methods

Interactive lessons that require the active participation of students, guided practice coding of video observations and group discussion to facilitate the acquisition of the ability to apply the knowledge to reality, the independence of judgment and autonomy in practice.

Assessment methods and criteria

The examination, without vote, provides for the analysis and coding of an interactive sequence in ecological contexts, and some methodological reflections on the observation. The laboratory is approved if the student show to be able to apply the acquired knowledge.
