Learning objectives

The course offers contents of pediatric nursing care through the clarification of contents and concepts of care indications in response to the different clinical conditions of the child given by the variables related to the age of development and also to the type of family. A modern and holistic care approach to the complexity of pediatric care.

Course unit content

The course includes a first general part on the entirety of the child and his family. Through the indications of the WHO, the European association for the rights of children in hospitals, the charter of rights and the concept of Family center care. The typical contents of pediatric nursing will then be discussed on some of the most common pathologies that accompany the developmental age

Planning of care for children with the following diseases
Fever and dehydration difficulty breathing
Diabetic onset: Nurse Pivot in pediatrics
Pain and different types to counter it
Routes of administration and dosage of drugs

Assessment methods and criteria

The student’s knowledge, topics’ comprehension and her/his skills to apply them on the occupational contexts will be evaluated by questions on the topics related to the course content. Failed answer to one or more questions or proved insufficiency of the basic knowledge on the subject will preclude the successful completion of the exam. In case of completion of the exam, an evaluation that contributes to the final grade of the course will be defined and it will be based on the achievement of the objectives (evaluated in thirtieth).
