Learning objectives
This course will enable the student to know and understand the tools for the prevention, diagnosis and therapy of the main diseases of the neonatal age and the first years of life.
Prerequisites
Physiology of pregnancy.
Course unit content
• Promotion of health in the first 1,000 days of life.
• Diagnostic-therapeutic framework for acute pathologies in the first 1,000 days of life.

• Vaccination during pregnancy
• Vaccinations in the first year of life
• Perinatal infections
• Neonatal sepsis
• Fever of unknown origin and sepsis in the first 3 years of life
• Domestic accidents and airway obstruction
• Prevention of infections in kindergarten and nursery school

Teaching methods
Lectures will be held on-site in compliance with safety standards, provided that further instructions on the ongoing health emergency are not implemented. Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform (Elly) and will include slide presentations, audio-video aids or video-recording of the lectures.
Assessment methods and criteria
If due to the persistence of the health emergency it is necessary to carry out the exams remotely, the final test will consist of an oral question conducted remotely (via Teams) in synchronous mode with questions on teaching topics.
