Learning objectives
In the first part of the course the student must acquire the basic knowledge about the main pathological conditions of pregnancy.
The objectives of the second part are to acquire the knowledge related to the law 194/78, to the surgical and medical methods for the treatment of voluntary and spontaneous abortion. Also understand ovarian polycytosis and hyperandrogenism, pelvic inflammatory disease with the causes and its treatment, benign gynecological pathology (myomas, polyps, septa and Mullerian malformations) with elements of gynecological surgery.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the male and female genital system and the the physiology of pregnancy
Course unit content
Frusca: hypertension in pregnancy, liver and hepatic diseases, kidney and nefrourinary diseases, alloimmunization, diabetes, IUGR,
preterm labor,
multifetal pregnancy.
Barusi: Law 194/78. Treatment and medical treatment of spontaneous abortion. Hyperandrogenism and PCOS. Pelvic inflammatory disease. Benign gynecological diseases (myomas, endometriosis, polyps) with elements of surgical treatment

Frontal lessons and acquisitions in the field
Assessment methods and criteria
The student’s knowledge, topics’ comprehension and her/his skills to apply them on the occupational contexts will be evaluated by questions on the topics related to the course content. Failed answer to one or more questions or proved insufficiency of the basic knowledge on the subject will preclude the successful completion of the exam. In case of completion of the exam, an evaluation that contributes to the final grade of the course will be defined and it will be based on the achievement of the objectives.
