Learning objectives
Attending students will be able to understand the topics, the specialist language and the terminology belonging to the discipline
Consequently the students will face a key topic of medieval history (the Monasticism) linking sources to historical knowledge.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of medieval history.
Course unit content
The first part of the course will be focused on some issues of medieval history and in particular on:
1. The birth of the idea of the Middle Ages;
2. Medieval sources;
3. Chronological and environmental issues of the Middle Ages;
4. Roman-Germanic Kingdoms;
5. The Spread of Christianity;
6. The medieval Church;
7. Cities and "comuni" in Medieval Italy.
The second part of the course will be focused on a Key topic of Medieval History: The Monasticism.

Preparatory lessons, analysis and intepretation of the sources.
The first part of the course will also be offered in a blended way on the distance learning platform called Elly.
