Learning objectives
The goal is to enable the student to know and to understand the essential elements of legal and medical-legal related professional activities of a midwife, in order to allow the student the ability to use the knowledge and understanding gained to assess the their professional activities from a regulatory-legal with specific reference to consequences in criminal and civil law, and to detect possible problems, with capacity to meet them and correct them.

Course unit content
The lecture series explains the basics in relation to the medical-legal aspects of the profession of midwifery.
Are examined, after the basic concepts of criminal law, the main crime-related health activities, discussing not only the general principles but also the doctrinal and jurisprudential examples.
From these premises are analyzed in their legal meaning and medico-legal topics closely related to the exercise of the profession, to present and explore the complex issue of health professional responsibility

Teaching methods
The teaching is done with lectures, including interactive teaching (case study presentation) aimed at comparing and learning real.
Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment of the achievement of the objectives set by the teaching provides a final verification by oral examination. The questions relate to the topics covered in class, in order to ascertain whether the student has achieved the goal of both the knowledge and understanding of the content of legal issues and legal medicine and the application of acquired knowledge within the profession of midwifery.
The final grade will be formulated based on the overall evaluation of the teaching staff of the Integrated Course which owns the teaching in question.
