Learning objectives
The objective of the course is to provide students with the knowledge of the terminology of medical-scientific English in order to be able to read and translate simple scientific texts, with special emphasis on the hospital environment. The course will allow midwives to acquire skills of comprehension and oral communication in the biomedical field. Such knowledge and skills can be applied for updating and professional improving.

Teaching methods
Frontal lessons, in English, will be aided by presentations and discussions in the classroom with students. Comprehension exercises, doctor-patient dialogues will be extensively used.
Assessment methods and criteria
The final written test will deal with biomedical English, with special emphasis on anatomical terms and terminology of the hospital environment.
