Course unit content
Brief historical evolution from the earliest inventions from 1600 to today. Introduction to and use of computers. General concepts on the principles of operation. Functional analysis of the structure of a computer. Hardware: CPU, Memory, I / O Devices System and binary Boolean operators. The information (text, numbers, images, sounds, ...) and its digital representation.
Software, basic software and operating systems. Application software. Work on programs and algorithms.
Computer networks. Local area networks and wide area networks. Internet and its applications.
Functional classification of application programs. Submission of application programs for word processing, presentations and spreadsheets. Use of the Internet (browsing, e-mail).
General concepts on the relationship Computers and Medicine. Introduction to computer security, legal references and general concepts, and nods to the digital signature.
