Learning objectives

The student will learn to understand the main points of clear standard speech on business and know how to deal with most situations likely to arise in the context of work.
Learning skills: the student will improve language learning skills and learn to exploit the possibilities offered by new technologies and the academic environment.

Teaching methods

Language content and reading and listening skills will be presented during the lessons. The student will have the opportunity to practice through in-class communicative exercises.

Assessment methods and criteria

The test consists of 60 multiple choice questions, time 90 minutes, passmark 36 correct answers (60%).
The questions are grouped into different exercises and evaluate knowledge and receptive skills at level B1.The first 40 questions assess knowledge of vocabulary and grammar (Use of English) and reading skills (skimming, scanning, inference etc.). The last 20 questions assess global and detailed comprehension of listening material

Other information

The test is based on the Reading and Listening Papers of the BEC Preliminary examination (Cambridge English ) and materials for the preparation of the BEC Preliminary exam therefore may therefore be useful.
