Transfers and course transitions

A student enrolled at another university who wishes to come to study at our university, or who is enrolled at this university and wishes to study elsewhere, may apply for a transfer.
If the student is enrolled at this university, but wishes to change degree course, he/she may apply for a change of course The student enrolled in a given academic year may apply, by the deadline of the second instalment of fees and without charge, for an option to another course of study. After that date, the option is no longer permitted and it is necessary to apply for a change of course.

Incoming transfer to the Interuniversity Degree Course in Philosophy

Requests for transfer to the Second-cycle Degree Course are discussed and accepted or rejected by the Degree Council, at the proposal of the President, having heard the person concerned if necessary. The deadlines for submitting transfer applications are set by the teaching structure of the administrative site of the Second-cycle Degree Course.

Students requesting transfer to a second-cycle degree course must simultaneously submit a document attesting to the activities for which they are requesting recognition.

Recognition of ECTS credits acquired in another Second-cycle Degree Course at the University or in the Second-cycle Degree Courses of another University, as well as certified professional knowledge and skills, is carried out by resolution of the Degree Council, subject to verification of the content of the training activities carried out and their equivalence and compatibility with the objectives of the Interuniversity Second-cycle Degree Course in Philosophy.

The transfer of students from other second-cycle degree courses is subject to the approval of the Degree Council, which will recognise the ECTS credits acquired to the extent it deems appropriate to the previous career and to the teaching and training objectives and content of the course. The Degree Council will determine the Programme of Study and the year of enrolment.

A student who is awarded 42 ECTS credits is enrolled in the second year of the course. In the event of a student transferring from degree courses in the same class LM-78 Philosophy, at least 50% of the ECTS credits acquired will be recognised.

In the event of a student's transfer from other universities, the Degree Council, in all cases where there are doubts as to the recognition of ECTS credits linked to previous training activities or it is necessary to verify their non-obsolescence, may order a verification, also interdisciplinary, to determine the ECTS credits to be recognised to the student.

Pursuant to Article 36, paragraph 6 of the University of Parma's Teaching Regulations, the Degree Council, with adequate justification, may recognise as ECTS credits, within the limits established by law, sporting practice and skills, professional knowledge and skills, cultural, artistic, voluntary and social activities, as well as IT and language skills certified in accordance with the relevant legislation in force, and other knowledge and skills acquired in post-secondary-level training activities that the University has contributed to designing and implementing.
