Learning objectives
This course aims to provide the informations and the scientific backround to approach correctly the main topics of Clinical Biochemistry so as to figure out the complexity concerning the biological samples, the possible sources of error and the valuable amount of information therein. This knowledge is needed especially by a professionals working in clinics or surgery departments.
Prerequisites
There are no obligatory prerequisites, but Clinical Biochemistry is an interdisciplinary science and needs the basic knowledge of Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, Chemistry and Biochemistry
Course unit content
Typeof laboratory test: purposes and usefulness. Biological specimens: instruction for optimal collection, treatment and conservation (avoiding pre-analytical variation).
Analysis of biological samples; analytical techniques and instrumentations. Analytical and post-analytical variability affecting the laboratory data. Clinical laboratory quality assurance Kits for diagnostic tests. Current waived test. Implementation and monitoring of POCT.
