Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with the fundamentals of climate change and sustainability law.
With specific reference to the Administrative Law module, the aim of the course is to provide the student with the fundamental notions on: the principle of sustainable development and energy transition. In addition, the relevant regulatory framework will be explored and relevant doctrinal and jurisprudential contributions will be analysed.
At the end of the module, the student shall have acquired the ability
- to recognise, interpret and correctly apply the principles of environmental and energy administrative law;
- to know and correctly apply the relevant rules of national and supranational law
- to study independently the issues related to the principle of sustainable development in environmental administrative law;
- to apply the acquired knowledge to concrete cases and to support one's own theses with appropriate language and arguments.
Prerequisites
Students are strongly advised to take the course after having sat the examinations of: Constitutional Law; Administrative Law; Public International Law; European Union Law; Tax Law.
Course unit content
The course will cover topics related to sustainability and energy transition.
Full programme
During the six hours of the lecture, topics related to the principle of sustainable development and in particular its systematic relevance and energy transition will be developed. In particular, note will be taken of the fact that the energy transition requires changes on various profiles: not only technological, but, more importantly, also organisational and institutional.

Teaching methods
The Administrative Law Module comprises six hours of lectures in which interactive moments with students will be included, consisting mainly of the analysis and discussion of documents available on the Elly platform.
Assessment methods and criteria
The examination is written and consists of a multiple-choice test and two open questions.
Knowledge and comprehension will be assessed by 10 multiple-choice questions designed to test effective knowledge of the fundamental concepts relating to the five modules.
The ability to apply knowledge and independent judgement will be assessed by inviting the student to discuss general notions in the light of two hypothetical cases.
Communication skills will be assessed by evaluating the student's ability to use appropriate technical terminology and to apply particular rules or principles correctly.
Learning ability will be assessed by an overall evaluation of the answers given to the test questions.
In the event of a continuing medical emergency and depending on how the emergency develops, the examination may be held in person, in mixed mode (i.e. in person, but with the possibility of also being taken remotely for those students who request it from the lecturer), or only online for all (remotely). Notice of the chosen mode will be given on the Esse3 system in good time before the exam is held.
