Learning objectives
Students will study the history of the Latin language in detail and acquire the skills required to produce a piece of independent research.
Prerequisites
Students must have obtained 12 learning credits in the scientific subject area of Latin Language and Literature. Students who have already gained 18 credits in the same scientific subject area must pass a preliminary written entry exam.
Course unit content
Title of the course :spoken and learned language in Catullus’libellus
Full programme
We will read and comment some poems by Catullus considering content, lexis, language and style, aiming at pointing out the presence and sometimes the mingling of different registers to expressive goals.
In-depth analysis and comparisons among different textbooks of History of the language are to be agreed on with the professor.
-Drafting of a research to be agreed on, which will need the use of the fundamental « tools » to study the history of the language.

Assessment methods and criteria
The exam consists of an interview covering the various parts of the course and students’ presentation of a piece of individual research agreed upon with the teacher.
