Learning objectives

Students will study the history of the Latin language in detail and acquire the skills required to produce a piece of independent research.

Prerequisites

Students must have obtained 12 learning credits in the scientific subject area of Latin Language and Literature. Students who have already gained 18 credits in the same scientific subject area must pass a preliminary written entry exam.

Course unit content

Lecture course: The ups and downs of a classical work : the novus libellus by Catullus.

Full programme

We will read and comment some poems by Catullus considering content, lexis, language and style, aiming at tracing the different stages in the spreading of the work and emphasizing the vaious problems, both solved and unsolved.
