Entry requirements

The Second-cycle degree course in Physics does not have programmed access. Admission to the Second-cycle Degree Course in Physics requires a university degree or a three-year university diploma, or another qualification obtained abroad and recognised as suitable.

For access to the Second-cycle Degree in Physics, it is necessary to have obtained a three-year degree in Physics in class 25 according to the ex-Ministerial Decree system. 509/1999 or class L-30 according to the ex-Ministerial Decree. 270/2004.
If the First-cycle degree grade is below 85/110 (or equivalent for foreign degrees), an oral interview is required prior to registration.

Alternatively, it is necessary to have obtained a number of ECTS credits of at least 90 in the disciplinary scientific fields MAT/*, FIS/*, CHIM/*, INF/01, ING-INF/05. The latter must ensure possession of a good command of the main mathematical tools necessary for learning modern physics, a good knowledge of experimental methodologies and a good level of understanding of classical physics, as well as basic knowledge of quantum and statistical mechanics, the atomic and subatomic sphere and the structure of matter. Possession of such knowledge is ascertained through an examination of the curricular requirements by the Degree Course Committee, which carries out an assessment of personal preparation taking into account the documentation submitted. The didactic regulations govern the manner in which this verification is carried out. In the event that the student's preparation is deemed inadequate, the Committee will indicate the knowledge and skills required for appropriate preparation. This can be done by attending individual course units of the First-cycle degree in Physics identified by the Committee and passing the relevant examinations. Students may not enrol in the Second-cycle degree in Physics until they have acquired the knowledge and skills specified by the Teaching Committee. A curriculum vitae and appropriate documentation to ascertain the requirements must therefore be sent to this Committee by the student. In the event that the student's preparation is deemed inadequate, the Committee will indicate the knowledge and skills to acquire an appropriate preparation.
Warning: the requests for the evaluation of the curricular requirements can be submitted to the Teaching Commitee from June 1st to July 2nd of every year.

Knowledge of English at least at B1 level is also required.
