Learning objectives

The course aims, in a first part, to provide students with the tools and advanced interpretative concepts for a theoretical study of the experience of illness understood as a strong biographical fracture of the subject, examining its repercussions in daily life and social representations, in both a diachronic and synchronic sense.

Prerequisites

Nothing else to report.

Course unit content

The course is ideally divided into three parts:
1. Health, disease, care and culture: a reflection halfway between the time of history and the philosophical-social representation;
2. The sociocultural paradigms of health and care: fortune and decline (?) of the biomedical paradigm;
3. Human sciences and care: the "knot of empathy". Edith Stein's contribution.

Full programme

As already highlighted in the "contents" section, the course can be ideally divided into three parts, contiguous and complementary to each other in order to reach the general cognitive objectives, which this course aims to "ferry".
First cycle of lessons: "Health, illness, assistance and culture". In this first part of the course, the synchronic and diachronic aspects inherent in the social representations of illness will be analyzed.
