Learning objectives
The course aims to develop in students a good knowledge of the fundamental elements of the environmental subject. At the end of the training activity, students should have acquired and matured autonomous argumentative and judgment skills linked to the study and analysis of the main aspects of environmental law. In particular, students are expected to be able to: 1) know the general regulations on environmental matters; know the system of sources and the relationship of interaction between internal rules and supranational rules that characterize the matter; understand the international principles (such as the sustainability principle, the "polluter pays" principle, the precautionary principle) that have allowed the affirmation of the legal environment good; know the main environmental definitions; understand issues related to environmental protection (knowledge and understanding). 2) Apply the notions acquired to concrete cases, be able to develop autonomous argumentative paths suitable for defining practical cases (ability to apply knowledge and understanding). 3) Being able to deal with real environmental issues, involving knowledge of legal notions (autonomy of judgment). 4) Use appropriate language (communication skills). 5) Analyzing different cases of reality, through the filter of received notions (ability to learn).

Course unit content
The course has as its object the study of the general discipline of environmental law and the deepening of some specific sectors of the subject. The course is structured in three cycles of lessons. The first cycle of lessons provides the introductory notions but necessary for the study and understanding of environmental law. The basic notions concern the study of the evolution of environmental law, the analysis of internal and European sources, the illustration of constitutional principles as well as administrative procedures relating to the environment and the subjects. The second cycle of lessons is aimed at dealing with specific aspects of this branch of law such as the principle of sustainable development, liability for damage to the environment, environmental risk assessment, the environment and the territory. The third cycle of lessons is dedicated to the analysis of particularly topical issues such as waste and renewable energy.

For the purpose of studying some topics of particular interest, the teacher will discuss in the classroom and subsequently upload some recent pronouncements to Elly. It is essential to consult the Environmental Code and the main European Directives on the subject.
Teaching methods
The teaching will be carried out with oral lectures, for a duration of 48 hours. The lectures will have as their object the study and treatment of introductory and basic notions, the analysis of internal and European sources, the illustration of the main environmental procedures and the treatment of peculiar aspects of this branch of law such as renewable energy. , waste, environmental risk assessment. The lessons will also focus on the collegial analysis of some cases and related jurisprudential rulings. All the didactic activity will be conducted by favoring dialogue and collegial confrontation.
Assessment methods and criteria
The learning and the degree of preparation achieved will be verified through a final oral exam structured through the proposition of at least three questions. The test, carried out orally with a mark out of thirty, is aimed at assessing the overall level of knowledge of the institutes, the system of sources and procedural notions on the subject, acquired by the student during the lessons. The final exam also aims at evaluating the student's ability to use an appropriate language, to analyze the different cases of reality through the filter of the acquired notions. The vote will be communicated immediately at the end of the test
