Learning objectives
At the end of the lab, students should be able to:
1) Use appropriately the principal indices of central tendency and variability
2) Know and correctly use of statistical significance and its meanings
3) Understand and critically analyse the use of data in research practice
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of statistics and psychometrics
Course unit content
The lab aims to analyse some aspect of statistics as a tool of psychological profession and practice, with special focus on assessment. The aim is to encourage an informed use, and the ability to clearly understand meanings and limits, of statistics

Teaching methods
Interactive lessons that require the active participation of students, guided practice analysis and group discussion to facilitate a) the acquisition of the ability to apply the knowledge to reality, b) the independence of judgment and c) autonomy in practice.
Lab will be held on-site in compliance with safety standards, provided that further instructions on the ongoing health emergency are not implemented. Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform (Elly) and may be include slide presentations, audio-video aids or video-recording of the lectures.
Assessment methods and criteria
The lab, which does not have a final vote, will be considered passed based on attendance in the classroom and the active and timely conduct of the activities proposed
