Learning objectives

The laboratory aims to promote the methodological knowledge related to the construction of a research design that includes the use of questionnaires. At the end of the course the student will be able to:
- know the tools and procedures used in investigations and surveys;
- use in an autonomous and appropriate manner the acquired knowledge to design and to implement a research design that uses questionnaires;
- recognize the limits related to the use of questionnaires in psychosocial research, and be able to deal with them critically and adequately with respect to the object of study;
- effectively communicate the results obtained through questionnaires.

Basic knowledge of research methodology

Course unit content

The course aims to deepen the methodological aspects involved in the construction and the use of questionnaires as a main research tools in psychology.

Teaching methods

Lectures will be held on-site in compliance with safety standards, provided that further instructions on the ongoing health emergency are not implemented. The workshop will be carried out with: frontal lessons; spaces for interaction with students; small groups work with the aim to design, build and administrate a questionnaire on the subject of discrimination online.
Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform (Elly) and will include slide presentations, audio-video aids.

Assessment methods and criteria

Participation in the laboratory's meetings and active engagement in the proposed activities are mandatory. Attendance will be ascertained (absences =< 25%) and the activities by the students will be monitored.
