Learning objectives

The course aims to describe the fundamental characteristics of the functioning of a cultural organization and its measurement and management systems.
I) Knowledge and understanding: knowledge of organizational processes, organizational integration, types of organizational structure, organizational planning and measurement and management systems in a cultural context.
II) Competences: at the end of the course the student will be able to analyze the organizational structure, to use coordination and performance assessment tools, to read and comment the main accounting information and a balance sheet.
III) Making judgements: the student will be able to analyze the main characteristics of an organization, to define which coordination tools are proper and to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of a cultural organization.
IV) Communication skills: at the end of the course the student will be able to use specific terminology in the field of economical evaluation and business management. During the workshop the student will be called to interject directly with the cultural institutions involved with which he will have to establish a proactive dialogue.
V) Learning skills: through case studies and exercises, the student will be able to value in depth the process of analysis, measurement and management of a cultural organization.

Course unit content

he course will examine the fundamentals of the subject, with particular attention to:
Features, areas of problematicness and management processes of profit and non-profit organizations and public administrations operating in cultural areas
_organisational processes and management of human resources;
_ Evaluation tools and decision making processes.
Students will acquire basic skills in managing, organizing and analyzing various cultural initiatives.he course will be joined by a workshop with many speakers.

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons and moments of confrontation and discussion with students on course topics are provided. During the course will be realized project works.

Assessment methods and criteria

The assessment of learning will take place through a written exam to open questions, but with a defined space to respond. The duration will be 1 hour. The proposed questions will be three with different degrees of difficulty that will allow to evaluate the accuracy of the study, the ability to link general concepts and specific topics and, finally, the level of autonomy of judgment.The prove will consider exceeded if the student will answer in sufficient way to all three questions posed. The overall evaluation will derive from the average of the votes of the individual questions.
Evaluation levels:
_massimo (the answers are perfect: correct and complete, effective and accurate, based on full mastery of the language);
_all (the answers are exhaustive but not perfect; they are correct and complete but the presentation and the language are not very effective and accurate);
Medium (the responses are sufficient but not complete and there are some errors);
Low / Low (responses are unsatisfactory: severely incomplete and with several relevant errors).The results of the exam are published on the esse3 portal and the timing will depend on the number of participants. You will go from a minimum of one week up to 3 weeks for appeals with more than 200 members. Students can view the tasks by appointment with the teacher.
