Learning objectives

- Knowledge and understanding.
The course aims to provide the student with knowledge of the general concepts of epidemiology, prophylaxis and control of infectious diseases, with particular reference to the main zoonotic and non-zoonotic infectious diseases of livestock. The general concepts of risk analysis in the field of food safety and animal health and the main international and national organizations dealing with the management of veterinary health issues will also be covered.

- Applying knowledge and understanding.
At the end of the course, the student will be able to identify and explain the characteristics of different pathogens and to address issues concerning the prevention and management of infectious diseases of interest to the livestock and public health sectors.
