Learning objectives

Acquisition of knowledge and understanding skills related to conflict dynamics. Acquisition of the ability to read the conflicting dynamics in the context in which they are needed. Acquisition of the ability to identify and apply conflic intervention strategies.

Course unit content

The course aims to help the manager to identify the causes that are at the root of the conflicts within the groups, expecially of work groups. The course provides conceptual knowledge from which practical skills will be experimeted through interactive activities.

Full programme

The conflict in the organizational dynamics, the definition of conflict and its value, the different types of conflict.
The role of identity dynamics in the organization and in work groups.
The consequences of a mismanagement of the conflict on motivation and organization climate.
Report and Content: understand and manage two different aspects of a conflict situation.
Address or avoid conflict? Knowing how to prevent it: when and why?
Signals of a negative conflict. How to facilitate a constructive conflict?
mplement interpersonal communication and relational skills: from confrontation to collaboration.
The personal development plan: what to do to strengthen one's abilities to face and manage conflict situations?

Teaching methods

The course is held in an interactive way. It combines frontal teaching with work team according to the methods of the experiential laboratory.

Assessment methods and criteria

The exam includes a written test aimed at assessing the knowledge and skills acquired. The test consists of three open questions. Each answer will be evaluated on a score from 1 to 10 based on the following criteria:
10 points = correctness and completeness of the concepts exposed
9-8 = correctness of the concepts exposed and the language is not completely precise
7 = the concepts exposed are not completely correct and the language used to expose the concepts is not precise and detailed
6 = the answer is dealt with in a non-detailed and precise manner. It presents gaps in the topic addressed
5 = the answer is not completely precise and relevant, it presents some errors of content.
4 = the answer is not at all relevant and not very precise. The language used to expose the concepts is not very understandable
3 = the answer has serious errors of content and the language is not at all precise and understandable.
2 = the answer is not correct or is not relevant to the requested topic
1 = does not answer the question
The sum of the scores constitutes the mark of the written test.
