Learning objectives
The course is aimed at teaching knowledge and understanding of the basics of the market economy and of livestock production, agribusiness and estimate. The student will also learn to apply the acquired knowledge and understanding in identifying and solving the problems of business management in relation to the policies of the EU and to food security.

The Italian and European zootechnical framework. Review of economic theory. Agricultural products market. Farming and business. The farm economic balance sheet. Production economics. Organisation of producers. Tax reform in agriculture. Sources of statistical information in agriculture. Collection of economic data of breeding farms. Analysis of zootechnical enteprises. Analysis of the eficiency of breeding farms.
Consumer, enterprise and market. Components of agri-food system. Trasformation of agriculture. Agry-food industry. Reorganisation of the distribution system. Public interventions. UE policies for the agricultural sector, rural development, food safety for the environment.
Provide the knowlegde for the valuation of the main rural and urban property for practical and legal purposes. The course covers the topics of rural estimation, civil estimation, legal estimation, cadastral estimation end project evaluation.

Assessment methods and criteria
The achievement of the course objectives is assessed with an oral examination. Through questions about the course contents it will be determined whether the student has achieved the goal of knowledge and understanding of the contents. Through questions regarding the preparation of a business budget and evaluation of related economic indicators it will be assessed if the student has achieved the goal of applying the acquired knowledge.
